Mission

Diversity In Medicine is an initiative to share stories of people in medicine that come from various backgrounds – to provide different perspectives in healthcare and insights of unique journeys to medicine. The goal of this initiative is to promote the integration of multiple perspectives to better contribute back to society. By sharing our stories, we hope that it can inspire others to pursue their dreams because anything is possible if you believe in yourself. And hopefully in some way, our struggles can be a small part of someone else’s survival guide.

Meet The Founder

Hello there! My name is Angela. I’m not sure if this is your first time visiting my blog but I wanted to provide a little insight into why I decided to start this initiative called Diversity In Medicine. I started this blog with the intention of sharing multiple aspects of my life and my passions – essentially things I wish someone told me. In other words, most of the articles I post are like letters to my younger self.

I realized that I could only share one perspective – my specific journey in life. I only know Angela’s story. I have no idea what’s it’s like to be anyone else on this path! One of the reasons why I started this blog was to share the wisdom I have gained thus far in life; so that it could possibly help at least one person. Ultimately, I decided that I want to do MORE. I can only share my personal experiences as a first-generation Vietnamese-American female medical student. Essentially, I have decided to provide a SPACE – a platform where I invite different people from various backgrounds to share their stories. And ultimately, my goal is that by providing this space where these authors can share their stories, that these articles can, in some way, be a part of someone else’s survival guide and/or inspire them to pursue their wildest dreams.

Each person that I have personally invited to be a part of this initiative is a good person with good intentions. I hope that whichever article you decide to read, that you find it helpful. We all just want to do some good and hopefully, that’s what I’m doing by starting this initiative. Enjoy reading these stories! Each author is an AMAZING human being and I can’t wait to hear your feedback!

xoxo

Special Thanks

I would like to personally thank each and every single author that has taken time out of their busy schedule to contribute to the Diversity In Medicine (DIM) Initiative. This idea started as something so small and has snowballed into a big community full of amazing people with inspiring stories. I am confident that the stories you have shared on this platform will help and inspire others. Your journey is unique and I am so grateful that you are willing to share it. It is an honor to have you as a part of this initiative. The mission of DIM would not be made possible without your contribution. So from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! Thank you so much for being a part of this. I will forever be grateful for your contribution to this initiative. And you will always be a part of this family.

Have any feedback or messages you'd like to share with the authors?
